We will look into:
Deposit Return System(DRS) in Bulgaria
Deposit-return systems can be the most effective solution against environmental pollution and for material recovery.
DRS achieves higher rates than any other system of separate collection of raw materials (90% on average, up to 97% in some countries like Germany or Norway).
Other European countries like Poland, Spain and France are already taking steps to introduce such a system.
Through Single Use Plastic Directive and Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation’s requirements, the EU has also made a significant push towards the introduction of effective solutions for environmental protection and resource management, such as DRS, in the European countries.
When will the DRS start in Bulgaria? Which are the main system’s objectives? Who are the participants in the system, and which are their key responsibilities? How can producers and retailers collaborate to find the most efficient way of implementing the DRS system in Bulgaria? Who ensures the logistics of the returned material and how?
Who will fund the system? How are the citizens supporting the implementation of the DRS? How will the awareness campaign for the consumers be conducted?
DIRECTIVE (EU) 2018/852 amending Directive 94/62 / EC on packaging and packaging waste – eco-design of packaging. Working on the prevention of the production of packaging waste and promote the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of packaging waste instead of its final disposal, thus contributing to the transition to a circular economy.
